Do you listen to podcasts? Great! If not, podcasts are a great way to listen to a variety of shows on-demand. You can find a podcast on jut about any topic, from sports to politics, cars to hiking, parenting to technology. You get the picture. 99% of all podcasts are free! Shows can be listen to in the iTunes Store, Google Play store, on individual websites, or using a podcast app. Personally, I prefer using an app called Overcast. Overcast is an Apple iOS only app, and has awesome features like Smart Speed, where it removes long pauses automatically, and Smart Resume that goes back to the most recent pause when interrupted by notifications and navigation directions.

Shows I subscribe to

It is evermore important to choose media sources carefully. Media by nature is created to influence. And like food, media can be junk and damage our emotional and intellectual self, or it can be nourishing and develop and strengthen our emotional, intellectual, and cultural self.  My choices are based on a couple criteria: who finances the show? do the hosts explore multiple angles of a topic? Which voices are represented in the story? Is there a discussion of action, or suggestions on how I can participate in the discussion? Are stories driven primarily to create emotional or intellectual response? It is not that I agree or disagree with the viewpoints in these shows, it is their ability to inspire me to think and act. Here are links to the shows I am currently listening to:

Choose FI is two guys that have built a community sharing ideas on how to become financial independent. After listening to one episode, I started binge listening to their entire library!
